Financial Controller

Our client, a highly respected industry leader and publicly traded organization, is looking for a Financial Controller to join their dynamic team. The financial controller is accountable for the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of the organization. One of the primary responsibilities is the generation of monthly, quarterly and year end financial statements in compliance with IFRS.


The financial controller will work closely with the CFO, and will be accountable for but not limited to:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities

  • Supervise accounting and administrative staff

  • Review of reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including fixed asset sub-ledger maintenance

  • Review and preparation of general journal entries related to inventory, unearned revenue and bank reconciliations

  • Supervise payroll administration and monitor ADP reports

  • Coordinate with operating staff and order supply requirements

  • Preparation of month-end management reports

  • Completing regular quarter end and year end entries (closing entries, accruals, financial entries, allocations)

  • Prepare quarterly working papers and un-audited condensed consolidated financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS

  • Prepare required documentation and audit working papers for year-end audit

  • Work closely with external auditors, as required

  • Preparation of year-end financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS

  • Preparation of entity level financial statements

  • Preparation of working papers for and reviewing annual tax returns

  • Review GST and USA state sale and use tax returns

  • Other duties assigned by the CFO

Skills, capabilities and experience:

  • Skills, capabilities and experience

  • Must have minimum of three years of assurance, post designation, experience from an international accounting firm.

  • Must have good working knowledge of IFRS reporting standards and capable of generating financial statements in accordance to IFRS.

  • Leadership – demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity and develop trust

  • Maintain confidentiality and represent company in a professional and positive manner
